Meadowbrook Fort Worth

The Meadowbrook area is full of character and charm!  Its humble beginnings go all the way back to the late 1800s. The area proved to be ideal for families looking for small homesteads. Many of the homes still sit on decent sized lots perfect for gardens and chickens, both familiar sights in the neighborhood. Meadowbrook experienced a surge of development in the 1920s and 50s. In fact, most of the homes were constructed during this period. As development continued, the age, style and price points varied greatly. Meadowbrook is conveniently located between downtown Fort Worth and Arlington with easy access to major highways, making it a commuter's dream location!

My family moved to east Fort Worth in 2003 and we’ve been living here ever since. I grew up off Meadowbrook in a cute yellow home that sat on almost one acre. We had chickens and gardens and lots of space to roam! The immense outdoor space, climbing trees and wildlife galore provided years of fun and entertainment for my family. The large-sized lots are one of my favorite characteristics of this neighborhood. It’s not uncommon for these older homes to have a mother-in-law suite in the back, which makes this area a great choice for multi-generational families. But it’s not the lot sizes, architecture, or prices that make Meadowbrook so special. It’s the people! We have a diverse and unique community who care about each other and the neighborhood. Everyone looks out for one another, always willing to lend a helping hand. My neighbors have turned into some of my dearest friends.

This side of town has many recreational activities to offer, as well. The Meadowbrook golf course is a fan favorite and one of the top 25 municipal courses in the state of Texas! Only a few miles down the road you’ll find Tandy Hills Natural Area–home to 160 acres of hiking trails, wildflowers, and the prettiest views of downtown Fort Worth. Be sure to stay up to date on the Tandy Hills event calendar for the upcoming family-friendly activities. Gateway Park is another great place to spend some quality outdoor time. This park has a disc golf course, biking trails, playing fields and two dog parks, equaling hours of fun! If you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend your weekend mornings, then Coffee Folk Cafe is a must. Owned by a long-time resident of the Meadowbrook area, Coffee Folk has become a favorite spot for local community members to meet up and enjoy a cup of joe together. You’ll find this hip coffee trailer located at the corner of Oakland Blvd and Meadowbrook, adjacent to Firehouse Pottery studio (which–fun fact–actually used to be an old firehouse)!
