At a very basic level, an agent should list your home on the North Texas Real Estate Information System’s multiple listing service (MLS). Syndication should be utilized to enter the listing onto many popular searching sites. Other options may include holding open houses, email blasts, or putting a picture of your home in the local magazine. While these strategies are “okay,” they may not be enough in today’s competitive market. As a consumer, it’s important to remember that REALTOR®’s are independent contractors, and in many traditional brokerages the agent is personally responsible for the majority of the marketing costs. These upfront costs can be expensive and come at a personal financial risk to the agent.
